Welcome to the Ringerike-Drammen Districts Lag Website!
We are what's called a bygdelag: basically a group (lag) of people that share the same ancestral areas in Norway. For R-DD our ancestors hail from one of nine kommuner (communities) in Buskerud Fylke (county): Ringerike, Modum, Øvre Eiker, Nedre Eiker, Hole, Drammen, Lier, Røyken and Hurum. For information about each Kommune click on the Kommune names or coats-of-arms above.
In 1916 the Ringerike Bygdelag was formed so we celebrated our centennial in 2016. We hosted the annual Stevne (convention), printed a commemorative book and visited our ancestral home in Norway.
We would love to have you join us. Membership is reasonable and comes with a few perks including our quarterly newsletter, The BREV (letter) and access to our database of member ancestry. You'll be surprised how many of our members you could be related to!
Scan our emigrant log. If you think your ancestor's name is on it, become a member for 1 to 5 years and obtain access to all the data we have on file. In addition we have genealogists who are ready to help members find that long lost relative - free of charge.
